My Style Monday

Is it really already Munday?!?! Blah. This weekend went by way too
fast, but to lift my spirits I decided to link up with Rachel and Lindsey today for
their My Style Monday edition.

Ever have those days when you don't really try to look that cute or plan out
your outfit and those end up being the times when you get the most compliments?
Well, that's how Saturday night was for me. Mdub and I had a little date night and I
literally grabbed this outfit out of my unpacked suitcase from the fourth and thought
this ain't gonna work, but why not try.

After getting everything on and doing a check in the mirror he walks in and says,
Whoa, Shortcake (my nickname) I love that... you look like you should be in
Argentina. I was like really??? I wasn't feeling it that much, but I decided to go with
it since he liked it so much.

After eating Thai food we went to The Summit (outdoor mall) for some
browsing and shopping and I had two random strangers compliment me
on how much they liked my outfit. I was like what the heck is going on??

Mdub's theory to this is just that I should trust him more and his impeccable sense
of style. hmmmm, maybe?!

Yeah, I couldn't decide what kind of pose to do and he forbid me to do the
classic hand/hip pose so this is what you people get.

In the words of Ricky Bobby... "I'm not sure what to do with my hands."
Sorry for the blurry iphone pic.

Deets of this outfit:
Light Peach Halter: Express
Seafoam Green Skirt: Ditsy Daisy Boutique
(love this skirt b/c it's flowy with a high slit down the side, but has shorts
underneath so you aren't flashing the world your goods. Also, has POCKETS!!)
Purse: Modalu Shark Pippa Bag (Pippa Middleton's purse)
Watch: Michael Kors White/Rose Gold
Shoes: J Crew

How was your weekend?!

My Style Monday

Happy Monday, Peeps. It's time for another My Style Monday link up with
Rachel and Lindsey!

I got to spend my Memorial Day weekend at the Gulf Coast with 4 of my
girlfriends. Ahhhh, the beach is my healing place. Emotionally, physically,
spiritually... it's that place where I get peace.

Saturday night we dined at The Oyster House in Gulf Shores, AL and
I wore this strapless dress from The Poppy Shoppe Boutique.

This is a bright coral and navy stripped sweetheart dress that they call
"Summer Date Night." A friend I graduated high school with and his wife started
this boutique online recently. They only have a few items to pick from right now as they
are growing their business, so if you find something you like you should help them out!

This dress zips up in the back and has a great fit. I like the length hitting where it does
with me being a shawty.

This dress retails for $39 and can be found here.

What have you been wearing? Go link up with the girls!

Makeup Mayfest Day 8

It's My Style Monday time with Lindsey and Rach!

This little mustard yellow dress has become a favorite in my
wardrobe. I bought this a couple years ago when going to Mexico for Thanksgiving
and it's just been one of those dresses that work for so many occasions.

I love the color mustard. I think it looks so good on brunette gals. I know most people
probably associate it with more of a fall color, but to me it's a color that works
year round. I love wearing this dress in the spring for a date or night out or in the fall
and winter with leggings and a little blazer. I have gotten my  money's worth with this
little baby.

It comes from a little boutique store here called Francesca's and is by the brand
Audrey. I wan't really able to find anything online that was even close to this dress,
but it retails for around $38.

Necklace from a local boutique.
Earrings from Premier Jewelry...and I've lost them : (

How was your weekend?

Daily Nuggs:
  • I have a bad sinus infection and cannot get all this mucas out of my head. ahhh
  • Work is busy the next couple weeks with events and meetings.
  • I cannot quit watching HLN and all the Jodi Arias murder stuff.
  • I have a lie bump on my tongue that hurts like a mother. I just want to cut it off.
  • I'm going to the beach next weekend!!!! woo hoo!

Makeup Mayfest ~ Day 3

Monday we meet again and that means time for linking up with
Lindsey at Let the Light Shine and her new co-host which happens to be my bestie

It's no secret among those who are close to me that I love me some
Rachel  Roy dresses. I fell in love with her line last year when I was shopping
for my 10 year high school reunion. Since then my eyes have not strayed far from
her when I step into a Macy's hunting down the next best dress.

Last week I popped into Macy's while they were having their Friends & Family
Event which entitles cardholders to an additional 25% off anything. Last year I
found my beloved white/rose gold Michael Kors watch and this year I grabbed
this little Rachel Roy goodie.

Isn't she just a beaut, Clark?!
The top is a sheer chiffon material while the bottom is a tight spandex.

I love the funky print on top.

Perfect for work, wedding, or even church.

Best thing about this dress.... She was $119 and I got her for $40!!!
Heck to the yes.

Love her back exposed zipper detail.

Classic black/tan combo (so classy) with the trendy bright
neon colors thrown in for a fun more flirty look.

I do apologize for not having a better picture of me in this dress.
This was dressing room picture that is typically always sent to
Alison, Rachel, and Rebecca for approval. : )

And here we are together for an after hours work event on Thursday
night. What's up with the beer?! Glad you asked. I HATE beer... it is
so disgusting to me. I truly don't understand how people acquire a taste for it.
Blehhhhhh!!! But, my boss is a big beer drinker and so I decided to see if I could compete
with him a little. In telling the bartender what I was trying to do she suggested a
Michelob as she said it was more of a "ladies beer."

Who knows?! I took about 3 or 4 sips and was done.
He won. I will stick to my fruity martinis or white wine.

Happy My Style Monday

Weekend Rewind

Here we are again... back at Monday.
Where do my weekends keep running off to?

On Monday's I've been linking up with Lindsey for fashion posts.
Go check out her blog and link up if you have an outfit you want to share!

I posted a picture a while back on Instagram of a potential Easter dress I was considering
buying by Bar III. I did indeed buy and wear it for Easter and thought I would pass along
the deets. Quick nugget of info on me... I love, love, love Rachel Roy and Bar III dresses
at Macy's. I am the probably the most indecisive person you will ever encounter at times
and finding brands that I love and can go directly to in a big department store has
alleviated much anixety.

Don't you just love all the peplum stuff out right now. This is the only piece
I currently own, but I find it so classy and feminine.

I'm a big fan of this light turquoise color for spring/summer.

This dress has a snug fit, high neckline, and a back exposed zipper. I love this dress
because I feel that it's very funtional. I wore this to church, but could also wear to work
with a tan cardigan or blazer, or a wedding.

The shoes are a nude closed toe sling by Nine West. I paired a strand of pearls along
with my Bulova square faced watch.

If interested Macy's still has this dress and it's actually on sale. Click here for
more info.

Wednesday Wishes

So, as you well know all of my Wish posts are dedicated towards beauty related
items. This week however, my eyes have gone in a different direction.

Now, no need to worry.... my beauty wishlist has not disappeared anywhere... it's
still a mile long, but there is a little something that has caught my eye that I can't seem
to quit thinking about.

I was recently introduced to the clothing designer, Ted Baker. A girl I follow on youtube
wore this dress to a red carpet event and since bright yellow and I have a serious love
affair going this little baby has caught my attention.

What I love about this dress is :

 bright yellow color
sleeves (work appropriate)
the back zipper
round neck
shorter length (b/c I'm shortie)

This dress retails for around $167 so I doubt I will be purchasing this anytime soon,
but if you feel inclined to do something special for my upcoming birthday in
June this would make a great par-tay dress!
I tease... I tease!

What do you think about this little spring number?!

Weekend Rewind, What's in my Bag?

On Monday's I'm going to start linking up with Lindsey on her
My Style Monday posts. Go check her blog out... great girl with a big heart!

Yesterday I finally got to to go to the Huntsville H&M at Bridgestreet Mall. I've been
longing to go since they opened last year and I'm sad to announce I was so disappointed.
Selection was eh and prices were too steep in my opinion.

But, I promise to not go on a rant about H&M. The good news is I did find two things that I felt deserved a home in my closet.

Ok, let me first say... I have no idea where I am going to wear this dressy
little number, but I don't care! I will find a place and create a reason!

I have always wanted a black long sleeved lace fitted dress like this.
In my opinion it just doesn't get much classier and sexier than this look. It was one
of those dresses that I put on and was like yep, I have to have this one.

It's amazing how a dress can alter the way you feel when it has the right fit and the right
look.

You can't see the back in this picture, but it scoops down to about where your bra would hit so
you get some back showing as well!! woop!

This was my love purchase for $25.99!

I love this black/white stripped pencil skirt for work. I just paired a little black
cotton/lace sleeveless top that buttons in the back.

Skirt  $24.99
Top: $25.99

So, there you have my first Alabama H&M purchase. I've been to the Chicago H&M years
ago, but unless somthing changes drastically with our store here in AL I don't think
I will be in any mad rush to go back.

Do you love H&M?!

Say Yes to Which Dress?

I did a post back in May before my ten year high school reunion with several pictures of dresses
I tried on and loved and let you comment on which one you thought I chose to wear.

WELL.... I have a wedding coming up this weekend in my hometown and went
through the same process last night with choosing a dress. I thought this would make for another fun
blog post.

I've tried to cut back on spending and am trying to do do better about analyzing "needs" verses "wants."I set up some new guidelines for spending, HOWEVER I am justifying this spend a little more because: A. I have two weddings this fall (fall weddings are just tough and require the right
kind of dress) B. The wedding is in my hometown and I have no idea whom I may run into
or see so this calls for stepping up my A game, right?! Ok, good... glad you agree on my splurge!

Ok, so shopping destination?
Team Macy's.

Brand to look for?
Rachel Roy and Bar 111.
(Love, Love, Love these brands)
Oh, to be rich and have a closet full of pretty dresses..... sigh.

Option 1:
Light Plum Rachel Roy cocktail pleated mini dress.

Option 2:
Dark Hunter/Teal Green Rachel Roy Bennett sleeveless banded waist dress.

Option 3:
Bar 111 burnt orange/navy fitted short sleeve sweetheart colorblocked mini.

Option 4:
Bar 111 dark teal classic fitted knee length dress.

So, there you go. I narrowed it down to my top 4 for the purpose of this post. I thought about disclosing
prices, but they all run close to same price. Anywhere from $69-99.

Rachel, Alison, and Matt you are excluded from commenting on this post! Have fun and I hope
you let me know which dress you like best! I'm very excited with my choice!

I will do a dress reveal post next week on my Weekend Rewind, What's in my Bag post.
Stay tuned...

Reunion Dress

So, I mentioned in my last post that my ten year high school reunion is this weekend!!!
Somedays I think yeah, it feels like it's been ten years... I think about all the things that
have happened and changed in the past ten years and when I think back to where I was ten years ago
it seems like another life! However, some days it just seems like yesterday that I was preparing
for a new chapter in my life with excitement as well as fear.

So, enough of being sentimental. I will save that post for another day along with some blast
from the past pics!! Get excited people.  I am a picture freak and have plenty of good ones.

I have been on the hunt for the right dress for the special event. Over the weekend I made
a trip to Macy's since they were still having their Friends & Family Event.  I took a picture of
my favorite three dresses for you to see.

I polled over 15 people to get their opinion. Can you guess which one won?!

Love the colors, fit, and funk of this Jessica Simpson one shoulder.

If you read my Easter post and the dress I wore you will remember that Rachel Roy
has become my new dress designer idol! I don't think there is one dress I have
seen with her name on it that I don't like or love.

So, this bright yellow with black zipper down the side is by Rachel Roy.
You can't tell in this picture, but it is strapless and has pockets on the side!
I have had my eye on this dress all season. I think it says so many things that encompass
my style.

And the back... I'm lovin the 3 black straps!

"Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow"
Love that rap song. :)

Another Rachel Roy. So classy!! I think this dress is so perfect for a bridal
shower or tea. It just screams classy with a touch of edginess and sexiness.
The fit was awesome.

So, those are my 3 options... which dress do YOU think I chose to wear?!
And don't you dare think about picking the wrong dress and make me doubt myself...
you people know decisions are not my strong point. :)
