Product of the Day- Dry Shampoo

If you have read my blog regularly or if you know anything about me you will
know that Dry Shampoo is a holy grail product for me. I could not live without this in
my beauty routine. I literally only wash my hair once or twice a week now and my hair
looks at it's very best when dirty and dry shampoo applied.

I frequently go through different dry shampoo's just to test and try various lines
and see what I like. I've gone through many bottles and they all pretty much do the job,
but I have found some that I really do like and one's that I don't.

My latest try/find is by Batiste Hint of Color for dark and dark brown hair.

This really caught my attention b/c the only bad thing I can think of with dry shampoo is most
come out white and with dark hair you have to spend a little time blending in. So, how awesome
to have it come out of the bottle already dark?!?! Well, that would be awesome if it did that, but
honestly it doesn't. It still has a white powdery finish, but blends in very easily.

Other than the color not living up to it's claims I have no other complaints. This product
is so wonderful. It has a great smell, gives lots of volume to roots when your hair is oily, and
refreshes your hair without washing. If you have never tried dry shampoo I HIGHLY
recommend this stuff. It has become such a staple in my routine that has saved me time in
washing, blow drying, styling and on top of that just makes my hair look better and more
healthy! Batiste is a great brand to try b/c it's sold at drugstores, and Ulta and is affordable.
This bottle retails for $8.99

You can get Batiste in Hint of Color for Blonde hair, Batiste original scent, Batiste
Blush, and Batiste Tropical. The scent of this one is the best I have tried in their line. I don't
know how to describe it. It's kind of powdery in a shea butter/beach kind of smell. Maybe.

Do you use dry shampoo? If so, what are your favorites?

Hair Routine Update- Conair Curls

Hey Everyone, hope you had a great weekend.

Last week I did a post about a new hair routine I was going to try and see how I liked.
I thought I would give you some updates after trying the leave in conditioner, oil, and conair spiral
curlers.

So, let me first start by saying by hair was much softer and felt healthier with using the Loreal
Eversleek Argon oil. Big fan of that product already! They also featured it on the Today show
recently as a great alternative to the highly purchased and sought after Moroccan oil.

I still want to play around with these curlers some more because the morning after I slept on them
wet I wasn't thrilled with the look. My hair was a bit large and kind of crazy looking, but after a day or two of wear I actually did like the curls and look a lot. My curls were more defined, tighter, bouncier,
and polished looking. I do think these curlers would be a great look for a special event if you
wanted lots of volume and spiral curls or waves. So, if you have holiday events around the
corner this could be a great look to try.

I thought I would just attach some pictures of various days of having the Conair curls and
let you do your own analysis of what you think! : )

Last Tuesday night... project Conair Spiral curlers.
Not so sure about this....

Wednesday morning. CURLS!

I decided to pull the sides back so there wasn't so much going on
in the front. This seemed to tame it down a little and make it more wearable.

Curls on Friday night for GNO and celebrating Lisa's 30th!!

Me, Lisa, Rachel, Alison out and about.
As you can see here I took a bobbi pin and pulled back my bangs/front.

I am attaching this picture for 2 reasons:
1. You can see the front of my hair really well and the sprial curls.
2. Alison and I doing the Wop.
Nuff said. : )

Another curl picture with Rach on Friday night. She came down from C town
to spend the night with her bestie! We had such a fun night!

So, a few closing things to know about my hair with these curlers:
1. The look lasted me 5 days
2. Applying the curlers was easy and took about 10 min max
3. Taking the curlers out the following morning was effortless. No pulling or tangles getting them out.
4. After a day of wear they do become more wearable and tame.
5. Easy and affordable way to get bouncy curls.

What do you think about these curls? Would you try the Conair spiral curlers?

Product of the Day- New Hair Routine

My current hair routine since spring has been curly wavy natural hair and I
have thoroughly enjoyed this look. It's super easy, full of volume and curls, and glamorous.

However, my routine has left my hair really dry and somewhat unruly on the ends. Let's be honest
my hair could probably use a good haircut and if I brushed through it occasionally instead of
letting it dry naturally I might not have the problem I do.

So, I still want curls and I want them to be my curls without heat, but I want softer more
healthy touchable curls. I have done some research and come up with a routine that I am
looking forward to trying.

Step 1:
Washing and Conditioning with John Frieda Hydrating line for
Extra Dry Hair.

Step 2:
Spraying John Frieda Leave-in conditioning spray to
the ends of my hair where there is the most dryness.

Step 3:
Applying this Loreal Eversleek Argan Oil treatment to the ends
of my hair for extra smooth and soft results.

(Bought this last night and it smells ahhhh-mazing, retails for $14 and I am hoping
is a great cheap alternative to the expensive Moroccan Oil that retails for $40 plus)

Step 4:
Apply these Conair spiral rollers all over my head, go to bed with
wet head, and wake up in morning to take these out and hopefully have beautiful, healthy, soft,
touchable curls! Fingers crossed.

This will obviously require a bit more time than my current routine, but not too much more.
I still plan on this lasting me days before re-washing. I typically only wash my hair twice a week
and use dry shampoo in between washes.

Stay tuned for a review of how this look turns out.

Wednesday Wishes- Hair Mask

I thought I would start doing posts on Wednesday's with things that are on my beauty wish-list.
My beauty wish-list is growing all the time so I thought this would be a good way
to share things that are on my radar and I've done some research on.

My hair has gotten really really long and the ends are looking a little fried these days.
I need to get a good trim, but I keep putting it off. I don't put a lot of product or heat in my
hair. Since the spring I have been wearing my hair wavy/curly with minimal drying with a
diffuser.

My hair type is more dry/coarse. So, I thought this would be a nice addition in my
shower for the occasional treat/pamper.

What this product claims to do:
"L'Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil Masque is designed to intensely nourish and replenish the hair, for a glossy-looking result.

The formula is enriched with special oil blends - argan, avocado, cottonseed and grapeseed."

 Directions for use:
"Apply L'Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil Masque and work into shampooed and towel dried hair. Leave on for up to 3 minutes. Rinse."

From what I can tell by searching online for this product it may be somewhat of a challenge
locating this in a store. But, online it seems to be retailing for $25.

I think this is something my hair would thank me for in the winter. My hair is in
some serious need of pampering as I have not been getting it cut on any kind of regular basis.

Have you ever used a hair mask? How did you like it?

Friday Hair of the Day

Happy Friday Peeps!

What a crazy and interesting week this has been .... and it just continues.

I wanted to do a quick post because I have been so bad at blogging lately.

Summer is right around the corner and there is just an relaxed and lazy vibe that comes with
this time of the year. I feel like in my beauty routine I want easy and convenient.

I have been wearing my hair in this messy/curly style for a few months now...
I honestly can't tell you when the last time I brushed my hair... haha!
I feel like it's perfect for summer and it's SO easy if you have any kind of natural
curl to your hair. You can wear it as natural as you want or glam it up for a more
polished look with a curling iron.

So, this is what you get with my natural look. What I have been doing is washing and conditioning
my hair and then NOT brushing it when I'm ready to style. The only part I brush out are the bangs
around my face.

Step 1: Apply a texture paste/product to your hair.
My picks are Garnier Surf Hair Paste (drugstore) or
Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray (sephora)

Step 2: Let your hair dry naturally or use your blow drier and diffuser for good curls.

Step 3: DONE!!! How easy! : )

Here is a little more polished look. I did the same steps in the picture above, but just selected
pieces of hair to curl with a 1 1/2 inch curling iron.

This is my go to Summer messy hair look. It's easy, glamorous, and fun!

Let your huuuur down this weekend and get craaazy!

What's in my Hair Drawer

Wanna know what's in my draaaaaws?!

Well, I'll tell you what's in my Hair Draaaaaw.

Let me say... I am not a huge hair product person so I don't have a ton of stuff in my
draaaaaw, but I thought it would be fun to share what I do have.

This is not stuff I use every day b/c frankly as I have said and will say many more times
I only wash my hair a couple times a week... I DEPEND on dry shampoo with everything
I have! Using alot of products in your hair is only going to make it more greasy and oily
which I am NOT a fan of.

Ok so from Left to Right here's what I got:

Paddle Brush (must have)

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray (loved this product this summer)

Matrix sleek look iron smoother spray

Bamboo Kendi Dry Oil Mist (glossy finish or can be used on legs after shaving)

Salon Graphics Dry Shampoo

John Frieda Frizz Ease Hair Serum (use before blow drying)

Garnier Surf Hair Paste (great for curly waves)

John Frieda Secret Weapon Finishing Cream (after blow dry and flat iron)

John Frieda Leave in Conditioning Spray (great for dry damaged hair)

Round Brush for blowing out bangs.

Several combs for detangling, volume, and separating.

So there you go. I am a big John Frieda fan. I really like his products b/c they
are so affordable and very professional feeling. I can't say I use these products all the time,
but I have enjoyed them all and will continue to use.

Let me know if you have any questions!
Have a great day!

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray

I recently did a post about products I took to the beach with me and Bumble and Bumble
new Surf Spray was in my grab bag.

I wanted to do a quick review on how I'm liking this product. Let me first say that it's not something I use or would recommend using every day. It leaves your hair with a somewhat
stiff/dirty/beachy head of hair. If your like me and love the way some good ole chlorine
and salt water leaves your hair then you will like this spray. If you however are one that
washes and dries your hair everyday and like the soft and clean feel you may
not like how this product leaves your hair feeling.

This product has salt-water infused into the spray which gives you that windblown curly look we all crave in the summer!

It's really easy to use. Just spray in your hair wet, scrunch with fingers, and let dry into natural curls. If you have naturally wavy and curly hair this spray will work great! If you don't then
you may have more trouble getting the curls you want. However, I think it will
give you volume and wave regardless.

This is what it looks like. Click here for more info.

When I googled "Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray" this photo of Blake Lively
came up. So, I played around with the spray to get more of her look and I loved it!
What I did was blow dry my hair as if I were blow drying out straight. Leaving it still pretty damp I took the spray and sprayed it in where my hair was half wet/half dry and scrunched a little and got more of this look.

It's a really pretty look. Lots of volume! Big curls and wave!

Here is a picture of my hair at the beach when I sprayed the product in wet hair.
Spraying it in wet hair and scrunching gives you more spiral pretty curls.

So, go get curly! Drive with your windows down, don't brush your hair as much and
let's all enjoy some volume, wave, and curl this summer!

"She Bangs, She Bangs, Oh Baby"

Have you ever found yourself wanting to be trendy
and try some bangs lately?

Well, I have many of times, but didn't really
want the maintenance of keeping up with bangs or
them annoying me by hanging in my face.

Solution, found!

Jessica Simpson paired up with celebrity stylist Ken Paves to create
clip in bangs. They offer a great way to instantly try out a style without
committing to a permanent look. They are heat friendly so if you want to
straighten them out you can and they clip in easily with three clips.
They retail for $29 so it's an affordable way to be playful.

Here is a before and after picture from the model.

I recently bought these bangs at Ulta for a photo shoot I did
with one of my besties, Rachel.

Here is the BEFORE BANGS

AFTER BANGS!!

Props to Rachel for making me look so good in these pictures!
I have gotten so many compliments on facebook of how cute and GLAM this picture is.
I have not been brave enough, yet, to wear them out in public, but we
will get there!

I have dark brown hair with a hint of auburn and I got the Chestnut color.
I think it was a tad bit lighter than my hair, but matched up ok.

Happy Monday!
