Makeup Mayfest Day 4

I thought I would share my current foundation and concealer routine
that I've been liking.

I had heard great review, after great review, after great review with the
Revlon 24 hour Colorstay Foundation. I had opened it up about a year ago at a
drugstore and thought the consistency looked way too runny and watery for me.

They have 2 different formulas. One for combination/oily and another for
dry/combination. I have a bottle of each and actually enjoy both of them for
different reasons based on what's going on with my skin.

Revlon describes this foundation as a lightweight formula with longwearing
coverage that doesn't cake, fade, or rub off. A flawless look all day long.

Despite my skepticism for how it would work for me I decided to cave
and try it out this year. I kept hearing girl after girl talk about the best way to apply and use
this foundation was with a beauty blender. At first I didn't use it this way... I was stubborn
and tried it with my fingers or a brush and kept being disappointed and wondering what all
the fuss was about UNTIL I pulled out my blender.

Wow. What a difference and how right everyone was. The finish and look of this
foundation is so pretty when applied with a damp beauty blender.

I just take the sponge and run it under cold or warm water and then squeeze all the
excess water out with my hands and then take a towel and ring it out once more. After
that I pour the foundation onto the sponge and then dab it onto my face.

Rather than rubbing or trying to blend it in fast it works best if you just stipple
the product on and take your time.

I have the combination/oily formulation and what I like about this is that it
doesn't dry my skin out or look too fake. I feel that certain brands that are designed
for oily skin or claim to give you a matte finish just look too drying.

This doesn't. It controls oil and shine, but with the damp beauty blender gives
a very natural and pretty finish and glow to the skin.

Next step after getting my foundation on is applying my Maybelline Dream Lumi
concealer under my eyes. This is a brightening and highlighting concealer. If you don't
have a ton of darkness or bags under your eyes this baby is GREAT. I love it for making my eyes
look more awake and full. It is a great drugstore product for highlighting and enhancing
dark areas that need some light and brightness.

This has a little brush at the end that makes it easy for applying the product right up under
your eyes. I have the color Radiant and it's a gorgeous color with some light pink tones
in it. My advice with this concealer is go lighter than you normally would. The purpose of
this is to really highlight that area so the lighter colors looks best.

What are your favorite foundations and concealers?

Friday Face of the Day

Happy Happy Friday!

I hope you have fun weekend plans ahead.

Here's a quick FOTD post to share some of the beauty goods I've been
using and loving!

Seriously, how pale am I right now?!?! aghhhhh, get that out of here... I need SUN!!!
So ready for some beach and poolside.

Oh, and sorry about the light switch just hanging out in the background .

I don't claim to be a photographer!

So, in my opinion the key things that stand out in this look are
eyes, cheeks, and lips so I decided to just share those for this look and
not overwhelm you with everything I used.

Blush: NYX Rose Garden
a gorgeous bright pink with shimmer

Highlighter: Lorac Perfectly Lit powder in Spotlight
lovely natural beige highligher that gives a pretty glow being glittery

Eyes: Hard Candy baked duo in High Maintenance
a natural shimmery eye

Lips: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Smitten
a brighter pink balm that stains your lip for an all day wash of color

All of the products listed can be found in the drugstore other than the Lorac
highlighter! I am loving drugstore looks and products lately!

What are your current drugstore faves?!

New Year's FOTD

Happy 2013 Everyone!!!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a great start to your new year. I'm sorry I
have been so MIA on my blog, but with the holidays plus walking pnemonia plus the flu
made for a sickly girl and I have just been trying to rest and get back to normal.

I was very pleased with the way my make up turned out for NYE and thought
I would start the new year off with a FOTD post. Matt and I went out to dinner with a group
of friends and then off to a wedding reception party downtown. If you could have seen us
a couple hours before getting fixed up you would have said there is NO WAY those
people look or feel like going out. Still fighting the flu plus moving M in the rain all day made
for a sad pair. But, we got tough and actually had a great night. We headed out right after 12...
no time for fun... we needed our rest!

Anyway, here was my look for New Year's Eve:

Foundation: Clinique Even Better
Concealer: Revlon Photoready stick
Bronzer: Chanel Soleil Tan De
Blush: Lorac Velvet Rope
Highlighter: MAC Pearl Cream Color Base
Highlighter: MAC Soft & Gentle (powder over cream)
Eye Primer: NYX HD base
Eye Shadow: Revlon Photoready quad in Precocious
EyeLiner: Loreal Gel in Blackest Black (top)
Urban Decay Rockstar (bottom)
Mascara: Benefit They're Real
Lips: Revlon Colorburst Gloss in Bordeaux

Other beauty deets: if you can notice I have a touch of bronze
to my skin thanks to St. Tropez bronzing moose. I applied an hour
before leaving an just like that... COLOR! Love this stuff.

The thing I was trying to achieve with this look was:

A really good glow and color with highlighted skin and
and eye look that had a good shimmery purple to match my plum dress. I also wanted
a bolder lip. Here are a few of the key products that made this look.

Sparkly jewels compliments of Cache'

And New Year's kiss compliments of Mattie... ;)

I hope you had a great New Year's and have lots of plans, goals, and new perspectives for
your 2013!!

Product of the Day- Concealer

Today's product of the day and review is brought to you by
Revlon and Maybelline.

I have been using 2 different concealers for different reasons, but they both have been
a favorite in my routine during these winter months.

On the left I have Revlon Photoready Concealer in the shade light/medium.
This is my favorite concealer of the moment for concealing blemishes, spots, or even
under the eyes. It's a thicker formula, but yet very creamy and blendable. I didn't use this
as much during the summer, but it's been perfect for me during the winter months as I have
felt my skin needs extra coverage in areas.

I have found myself applying a thinner layer of foundation all over my face and
then using this to really go over areas that are in need of some tlc for a more flawless finish.

Love this concealer and would definitely repurchase at my drugstore when I run out.

The concealer on the right is Maybelline Dream Lumi touch Highlighting concealer
in the shade beige (might need a lighter shade).
I have found this to be a great concealer for brightening up your under eye area. I don't have
many dark circles or bags under my eyes, but I still find it helpful for making my eyes
look more awake, youthful, and brightened. I had to play around with this a little to find the best
application is patting with your finger. I used brushes and sponges and wasn't getting the effect
I wanted, but after application I just use my middle finger to lightly dab the product into
my skin and you can see the difference a lot more effectively.

I have friends that don't use concealer and it's not always needed. You can always
double up on foundation if you need extra coverage, but for me during these colder
months I find it more needed and it gives me a more polished look when I want it!

These both have gotten great reviews in the beauty world for different reasons.
What is your favorite concealer?!

Wednesday Wishes- Revlon Kissable Balm Stains

Happy Happy Hump Day!!

Ok, so this post is going to be super short b/c I'm about to head out the
door to see the family for Turkey day, but I wanted to share my latest OBSESSION.

This is going to be more of a teaser post and more to come later, but guys I can't even
tell you how in love and sold I am on these kissable stains by Revlon. They are the most
exciting beauty product I have tried ALL YEAR!!! All year people... that is huge!

I have bought 3 shades in:
Honey, Smitten, and Adore, but there are about 5 more that I want in my
possession.

They are EXACTLY just what they say they are. A balm that is moisturizing that sets
on your lips and leaves a stain that lasts ALL day. I'm not kidding... all day long. To the point
where you need to scrub it off at night.

I'm not a chapstick/balm kind of girl... I'm a lipstick/color girl. I can't stand not having
lipstick on. I feel like my make-up is just incomplete.
If you are like me on that you will LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these!!!

I'm so excited!!!
Ok, so more to come later on my shades and other deets.

Have a HAPPY Thanksgiving!

Face of the Day

It's been a while since I did a FOTD post, so thought I would give it a shot!

I recently blogged about some Revlon products I bought and thought I would incorporate
them into a FOTD so you can see how they look.

Two of these products, Revlon colorstay quad in Decadent and Revlon colorburst
gloss in Rosepearl have been some of my faves lately. Especially the gloss!! It's the most
gorgeous rose/pearl shimmery gloss that is perfect for fall. It's neutral, but yet gives a pretty
brown/rose pop of color. Love, love, love!

My Face. : )

Products used on eyes were Revlon Decadent Quad.
This quad is such a gorgeous soft neutral pink/gold color. It's soft,
feminine, and will look great with any blush or lip shade you want to throw on with it.

These quads are great b/c there are so many different ways you can wear them. Love
the gold (far right) and Cranberry (bottom right).

Great pigment and long lasting. Retails for around $7 at drugstore!

This Revlon colorburst gloss in Soft Rose has been a staple in my
make up looks this fall. Of course this color can be used anytime of the year b/c it's
so neutral, but man oh man it is so pretty on! It's got a shimmer and pearl finish that just
makes your lips look so healthy, sexy, and yummy!

I wish I had big plump lips, but I shall keep wishing.

This gloss also retails for around $7, but Revlon often has a Bogo special.

Other products used for this look:
Foundation: Clinique Even Better (loving)
Bronzer: NARS Laguna (fave)
Blush: Rimmel Autumn Catwalk
Mascara: Almay Get up and Grow (great)
Liner: Urban Decay Black

What do you think about this look?!

Product of the Day- Revlon Quad

After really enjoying my Revlon Colorstay quad in Decadent I decided to pick
up another that had a darker more fall look.

Last year I really got into using olive and found it looks amazing on brown eyes. Olive
is such a pretty color that looks great mixed with gold and browns. It's also a color that is complimentary on any eye color and will give a great pop of color.

This is the quad in Adventurous and as you can see comes with:
Light cream highlight, olive green, copper brown, and matte dark brown.

These shades are gorgeous and rich in color. It only takes a small tap of these
shades to give off a lot of color. These quads claim to last 16 hours. I have not personally
put this to the test, but can say that with a primer these do last most of the day and I don't
experience any creasing.

Revlon Colorstay quads can be found at your local drugstore and retail for around $7.

Stay tuned for Face of the Day posts with these shadows incorporated.

Have you tried any Revlon colorstay quads?

Product of the Day- Lip Butter

I hope you had a great weekend. It has officially gotten chilly and feels like fall
here in Alabama. I am ready for a touch of colder weather... just nothing too crazy!

Today's POTD is a Revlon lip butter. These lip butters have been my go to lip
product this year. I have a variety of shades and they are very moisturizing, pigmented,
affordable, and just an easy product.

Sugar Plum is a gorgeous plum shade that is great for fall/winter. This color tends to
leave a bit of a stain behind due to it being a bit darker. It looks great with nude eyes or
purple's. Revlon lip butter retail for around $7 at your drugstore, but you can normally get
a buy one get one 50% off.

Have you tried any of Revlon's lip butters? If so which do you like best?

Weekend Rewind, What's in my Bag?

Hey Everyone. I hope you had a great weekend. I grabbed a few things
this weekend beauty related and wanted to pass along.

I've been curious about the Loreal 360 clean cleanser with the
exfoliating and pore cleansing sponger for a while now.

I decided to try it out this weekend and see if it's something that may be a skin care
staple.

I love the packaging and how the pore cleansing sponge pops in and out of
the bottle. The sponge is really fun to use. It's got a nice soft texture and makes for a fun
experience to cleanse... you really feel like you are giving your skin a better and deeper cleanse.

Retails for around $6.

I needed a new base and top coat polish and have heard great things about the
Revlon Colorstay line and how long lasting and glossy these polishes give
your nails. I did use on Friday night and was impressed.

These retail for around $7, but Revlon usually has buy one get one 50% off.

MORE MAKE-UP WIPES!!! You guys know how much I love my wipes. I am
almost out of my Burt's Bee wipes and decided to go back to the Yes to Cucumbers. I have
used these several times and love how gentle they are and the cucumber fresh smell they have.

So, that's what was in my bag this weekend, what did you pick up?!

Weekend Rewind, What's in my Bag?

Happy start to a new week. This weekend went by entirely too fast, but I hope you
had a good one.

I made a stop by Target Friday night after dinner with the fam for my Dad's birthday and why
oh why is it so hard to walk out of Target with just an item or two.
Target and I have a passionate love affair going on. shhhhhh, don't tell.

So, here are my goodies from the weekend:

I've read so many great reviews about the Revlon Colorstay quads. I believe these came
out this year, but they are supposed to be really long lasting and pigmented.

I got the shade Decadent. As you can see it is very neutral pink/gold look.
Pretty!
(Review to come)

Another Revlon item on my wishlist was the Colorburst gloss in shade
Rose Pearl. It's a frosty rose shade. I wore it yesterday and really like it.
(Review to come)

PENS!!!! ha.
I put this in here to be a little funny. Right behind my beauty obsession is pens
and school supplies. The pen section is like a magnetic that just pulls me in.
I get so excited to have new writing utensils for work/whatever. I started taking
an Old Testament type seminary class on Wed nights and I am SO
excited to have these pens for this week's class!!

Target had some really cute new fall clothes out. Mdub talked me into
getting this light blue jean button down. He likes that hippy slight edgy look and
thought this would be really cute with dark or black skinny jeans with boots.
I concur.

Great for weekend out and about.

Xhilaration, $22.99

Love, Love, Love this navy/gold printed stretchy pencil skirt.
Looking forward to sporting this at work for a dressier look with a
sheer cream blouse tucked in with some gold jewelry!

Back zipper. Cute!

Xhilaration, $16.99

I love sheer tops right now. They are great for the transition in season b/c
they are very lightweight, but give you more of a fall feel.

Love this tan/cream bubble print. Will wear with dark skinny jeans and
boots to work or weekend out and about.

More back zippers.

Xhilaration, $19.99

Another sheer navy/hot pink zig zag print .

And more back zippers. Seems to be the theme for my threads.

Xhilaration, $19.99

Did you pick up anything fun this weekend?!

Revlon Mascara Review

"Get glamorous, big volume lashes from every angle" is what Revlon
promises with one of their newer mascaras... Photoready 3d.

NEGATIVE!!! There is nothing special about this mascara at all in my opinion. I
am not very brand loyal to any mascara. I enjoy shopping around different brands
and typically always buy drug store. This is not a mascara I would re-purchase
and for me that says a lot about how I feel about the product. Nothing out of the
ordinary and for a mascara that claims to be volumizing.

I do think it provides good separation and maybe ok in lengthening, but that's about
it. If I were rating this on a scale of 1 to 5 for a volumizing mascara I would give
it a 2 or 3. I will be sticking to my Loreal Voluminous Mascara (a personal
fave) as well as continuing to find the next best thing!

What mascara's are your personal faves?!
Leave me a comment... you know you wanna!

Valentine's Face of the Day (FOTD)

Happy GALENTINE'S Day!!!

I hope you all are having a wonderful day filled with love from those closest in
your life.

I wanted to post my Valentine's day look as a "face of the day." I think these
are kind of fun and it gives me a chance to play with new looks and new colors
for you so I'm not putting on the same makeup every day.... cuz let's be honest you
guys know I have drawers full of it.

So, this is a day look... what I wore to work. It's a little more glammed up with the red
lips and would not be my typical every day work look, but wanted to play up the
red a bit. I may do a separate post on how I do my night look. Stay tuned.

In regular lighting.

Natural lighting.

Products used on face:
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 hour foundation (not listed)
Estee Lauder Double Wear concealer under eyes
Nars Laguna Bronzer
MAC blush in Plum Foolery
MAC Mineralize skinfinish in Soft and Gentle (highlight)
MAC cream color base in Shell (highlight)

Products used on eyes:
Urban Decay Naked Palette

Browbone and inner corner I used shades:
Virgin (far left)
Sin (shimmer pink next to it)

Center of Lid I used: Toasted (far left)
Outercorner I used: Hustle (middle)
Lined upper lash line: Creep (far right)

New Product Alert!!
For mascara I used Revlon Photoready 3D Volume.
I like it so far... I find it's lengthens and separates more than a ton of volume.

For lips I used:
Merle Norman lipstick in Sienna
Merle Norman gloss in Sheer Kiss

It's not really a true red lip, but something that gives you a hint of pink/red
in a more wearable everyday look.

And last, but certainly not least my own little Valentine this year!
My sweet 4 pound maltipoo, Millie! She is my love.

Happy Valentine's Day!!
XOXO

Friday Faves

So, how well have I done this week with blogging?! Aren't you so proud?!

Time for a Friday Fave!!

Revlon recently came out with the Lip Butters and guys they are truly amazing.
They are a moisturizing lip balm, but with great color and pigmentation to look
more like a lipstick than balm.

I'm sure you have seen the ads and commercials with the lovely Emma Stone.
In her print she is sporting the shade "Peach Parfait" which is my personal fave.
It is the most wearable every day shade that looks great with any colors you are wearing.
Very natural. Very pretty. Love it!

I have four different Lip Butter shades.
From left to right:
Peach Parfait (my fave)
Strawberry Shortcake (bubblegum pink)
Candy Apple (bright red)
Berry Smoothie (berry)

Left to right:
Peach Parfait
Strawberry Shortcake
Candy Apple
Berry Smoothie

This is the packaging. They are in a quilted looking plastic tube.

Here are some swatches of the colors I own.
From bottom to top:
Peach Parfait
Strawberry Shortcake
Candy Apple
Berry Smoothie

Have you heard about the RLB? If so, which shades do you own and like?

Friday Faves

Well HELLOOOO there beauties!

After a near month break of blogging, I'm back! Where have you been you say?
Why did you stop blogging? hmmm. I'm not really sure. Laziness, planning trips
to NYC and Mexico, and best of all I got a baby puppy dog last week!! She is a light
apricot maltipoo named Millie and she has consumed my world. I will do a post on her
soon so you can meet this precious little angel!

So, I'm going to try my best to keep up with blogging and doing more reviews, but with
the Holidays quickly approaching I'm not making any promises! : ) Things get cray cray
around this time of the year.

So, I do have a Friday Product Fave that I wanted to blog about. I bought the Revlon
Photo Ready concealer about a month ago and have been using every day under my eyes and
on any blemishes I have!

Guys, I have to say I am so into this concealer. I have quit using my higher end
stuff and grab for this over the expensive stuff now! It is a stick which would lead you
to believe it would be a more dry consistency. Negative. It is the most creamy, smooth,
blendable concealer.

My face recently decided to turn into a pizza right before my trip to NYC and this
stuff covered my blemishes like nobody's business! I even showed my girlfriends on the
trip how well it hide my pepperoni face. They were all impressed and wanted to use it!

It's a bit more expensive than maybe your average drug store product, but much better
than a department store. Retails for $9.99.

I purchased the 003 light/medium shade and it works perfect for me for anyone that
is interested in knowing.

Ok, so this was a quickie. : ) Hope you enjoyed. I will do better, I promise!

Have a Fabulous weekend!
