Friday Face of the Day (FOTD)

Cheers to the Weekend People!!

In honor of all the Spring Breakers this week I decided to do a brighter face of the
day for you this Friday. And what says spring better than a pretty flawa in your
huuuuur girl?!

I was excited to do my first real attempt at a cat eye for you. I need some more practice
with liquid liner, but I think we may be getting somewhere. This is a much more
natural take, but I want to do a dramatic cat eye soon!

Hair is all natural. Literally took a shower and did nothing but spritz some of my
Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray and went to bed. Hello Volume!

You can see the cat eye a little better here with my eyes open.

I did a very neutral matte eye with black liquid liner and then brightened the face
up with some bright coral blush and cherry lip gloss.

Most of you probably already know this, but pick an area of your face that you want
the focus to be. If it's your eyes... do a smoky eye with a neutral lip. If you want to do a bright
or dark lip, tone down your eyes with lighter more neutral shades. You just don't want
a lot going on with both your eyes and lips.

Make-Up used for this look:

Foundation: Loreal Magic Scouffle
Concealer: Estee Lauder Double Wear
Bronzer: NARS Laguna
Blush: NARS Orgasm and Maybelline Bouncy Blush in shade Tamale
(I applied the cream Maybelline first and then set it with the NARS orgasm powder)
Highlighter: MAC Shell (cream) then MAC Soft & Gentle
Eyes: Urban Decay Naked Palette
Shades used: Virgin (under brow) Naked (lid) Buck (crease)
Liner: Lorac black liquid
Gloss: Clinique Cherry Apple

Happy Spring Break!!! I'm so excited for this time of the year!!

Have a great weekend.

Nail of the Day

Hello Beauties!

I'm here again with another Nail of the Day Post. This week I am sporting
OPI shade "You don't know Jacques." This is a gorgeous grey taupe color that I feel like can
work in any season. I almost did a bright fuchsia to feel all springy, but I'm not quiet there
yet. I still am loving the dark colors.

This is a matte and opaque shade. No glitter or shimmer going on. I applied two coats
with a clear top coat to lock in color.

What nail shades are you enjoying wearing?!

Weekend Rewind. What's in my Bag?

Hey Guys! I hope you had an eventful St. Patty's day weekend. I was fortunate
enough to head over to Gatlinburg, TN with a few friends for some fun and
relaxation. My friend John works for PSS, a pharmaceutical company based
out of Jacksonville, FL and he won this trip free!! Which made things even better!

So, like I did last weekend... I thought I would just do a photo roll of the weekend.
Nothing in my bag to show off... it's still Lent people... ughhh and btw it's getting
tough. This 80-90 degree weather has me in major SPRING FEVER!! I want to go
buy new spring dresses and fun shoes and bright nail polish, but alas I am remaining
good. Are you proud?! B/c you really should be.

This is the cabin we stayed in. I love the curly staircase!! So pretty.

My Saturday morning St. Patty day view!!

Ummmm... ok, this was by far one of the strangest things I have ever seen.
This past weekend was the "Clause Convention" in Gatlinburg and basically all the
Santa's from all over the world come to learn how to be better Santa's???!!!

Haha... I don't know, but they had a huge Santa parade with over 3,000 Santa Clause's.
I felt really sorry for them b/c it was 80 plus degrees and they were all decked
out in their velvet. I don't even want to know what was going on under
all those red suits!! ha.
Group picture!!
Left to Right:
Me, Jeremy (Big Daddy) Colby, and John.

What's the best part about going to the mountains???

If you are me then you say HOT TUB without thinking. I practically lived
in that thing this weekend.

And did you notice I brought my green suit for the festivities?! Got to stay in the
holiday mindset!

We ate at this Mexican place in downtown Gatlinburg called Loco something.
It was the coolest place I have ever eaten there. They have a main level, then you ride an
escalator upstairs where this is a lounge rooftop area that overlooks downtown and
in the back there is rooftop dining. The skylifts that go up the mountain are right
beside this restaurant so it makes for a really fun atmosphere. It was a little chili
by the time we started eating, but we survived.

Great food!! Fun!!

My top above is an Xhilaration top from Target. It is this season if you are interested
and they have in Navy as well. I just put a nude cami underneath.

AND here comes the fun part of the restaurant... they have a mechanical horse/donkey
not sure what that thing is. I am a major sucker for things like this. What you can't
see in my pictures is that all the people are behind me... SO, I did have an
audience. I promise I am not the only person there as it appears.

Action shot.
My longest ride was 18 seconds.... and not to brag, but that was longer
than any other girl stayed on!!

And. I'm. Done!!

I think I may have had a mild concussion after my ride... my head hurt pretty much all
day Sunday and now my neck is throbbing. NICE! Oh well, the price I pay
for being adventurous!! : )

How was your St. Patty Day weekend?! Do anything fun?!
Tell me!

Nail of the Day

I've been meaning to do more NOTD posts and feature different polishes
I am wearing or liking.

I am a big fan of fall/winter shades... love dark polishes and think they can be
so sexy, but I am looking forward to some bright spring shades!!

When I break my Lent fast I may have to pick up several new colors that I have been
eyeballing. : )

If you read my last post about the wedding I went to over the weekend you noticed
I wore a cobalt blue cocktail dress. I had this polish in my bag and decided it would
be a fun shade to pair with the dress. Of course it's not an exact match or anything
and some people would go for a more soft neutral color for a wedding, but
I was feeling fun and a little sass so I pulled out....

"OPI INK"

It's a very unique blue/purple shade with glitter. In some lighting it looks
very purple and in others more blue.

I'm normally not a huge fan of blue shades on me, but I bought this last fall and
never used it so I thought it needed some love!

In the picture above you can see it looks more purple, but actually on my nails in the
picture below you see blue!

BAM! Now, that's a nail shade!

What do you think? Would you wear this shade?

Have a great day!

Weekend Rewind. What's in my Bag?

Are you confused that I am doing a "What's in my Bag" post?!

"Did she go shopping and break her Lent commitment"??!!

NEGATIVE!!! I am still on track people... be proud.

I had a weekend filled of wedding festivities from a Monogram shower on Saturday
to a wedding on Saturday night. I thought instead of showcasing items I purchased over
the weekend I would let you feast on some pictures of what I wore to these events
as well as a few snapshots from the wedding and the amazing princess cake!!

I went a little Boho Chic to the Monogram shower on Saturday afternoon.
Dress is from Lotus Boutique of Birmingham, AL
Boots are Charcoal Gray from Target
Necklace is from Forever 21

Yay for my friend Sarah Wilcox who is getting married on 3-31-12
Can't wait to be apart of her and Jeff's special day! LOVE them!

After Sarah's shower I rushed home to pull myself together for this other
shin-dig. I was asked by a friend of mine to go to his first cousin wedding.

I wore this Cobalt Blue strapless dress from Cache. (compliments of Al)
Black pumps from Nine West
Earrings were pewter sparkly from Cache.
I carried a Black paten leather clutch from Nine West .

Inside reception at Mountain Brook country club where Bride & Groom and
their family sat!!

SO flippin GORGEOUS! I really felt like it was something out of a movie.
CLASSY, elegant, feminine, romantic.... everything you could possibly want
in your wedding.

Ahhhhhhh.... do you hear Angels singing??!!

So, this was the Bride's, what I keep calling, Princess cake.

Have you ever seen a more beautiful wedding cake?! I sure haven't.

This was the focal point for the room where the band played and everyone danced.

This is the man that made everything possible.

He is a genius and an incredible guy... if you are looking to book a wedding in AL
and want it done right then look up Chris Confero.

And yes, I am friends with him.... I didn't just ask for a creepy picture with the
wedding coordinator... ha! Although, I wouldn't put it past me to do that.

Some cake and flower action...

Some shake it like a polaroid camera action...

I. LOVE. TO. DANCE.
Period.

And what better to end my night than a visit to my favorite twinkie.
No, we are not sisters, but we really should be!
Love me some Alison!!

I hope you had a great weekend.
What did YOU do?!

Beauty Wishlist

Happy Monday Lovelies!

So, since I am not doing ANY shopping over Lent I thought instead of my
Weekend Rewind posts I would do a Beauty Wishlist.

Mini update on Lent... it's going well. Sort of. I've been in Target a few times and
The Summit and TJ Maxx without successfully buying anything. Well... kind of.
Ok, quick confession. While at Target this past weekend I did find a swim cover
up that I had been looking for a while. So, my friend Heather and I had a heartfelt
convo and she decided to buy it for me and hold it hostage until after Lent.
What do you think? Did I cheat? Here's the deal... this cover up is already sold out
online and I had been to 2 different Target's in town and they were sold out....
SO, when I found it this weekend I felt like I had to grab it while I had the chance.

Hmmm.... I hear the words of a cheater. Boo! Don't judge me!

Onto the Beauty Wish List...

My friend Rach recently went to a Blog conference in Nashville and while
looking through some of her pictures I noticed her gorgeous lips! I asked her what
she was wearing and found out it was a Tarte LipSurgence Liptint. It is a stain that is
proven to moisturize your lips.

I love the idea of a lip stain b/c they typically last much longer than a regular lipstick,
but the fact that it claims to be so moisturizing is a major selling point.

Click here for more info on this product.
Nars blushes in general are on my wishlist. They have won all kinds
of awards for being the best blushes on the market. I have been using their
Laguna bronzer since the fall and absolutely love the formulation. So, I know I will
love their blushes as well. The color above is a new spring color called Gaiety.

It's a gorgeous bright candy pink that would look great on medium skin tones with
a little tan going on.

Click here for more info on this product.

I have never used Chanel products, but oh how people rave about the goodness and
luxury they offer. Chanel has a cream bronzer called Soleil Tan de Chanel and it
sounds uber scary right?! CREAM BRONZER?! That sounds like a disaster of
brown on my face. I agree. It does sound challenging, but the reviews on this product
are wonderful. It retails for $48 so it is super pricy, but I think it sounds like a
super interesting product to try and a fun introduction to a new line.

So, what is on your Beauty Wishlist?! Please leave me comments below so I can
hear about what YOU are interested in trying!

Have a wonderful day!

Friday Face of the Day (FOTD)

Happy End of the Week!!!!

I've done another FOTD post for you guys and I'm a big fan of the products
I used on my eyes and hope you will be a little inspired! : )

So, real quick before I get started on products used... I just downloaded
Instagram on my iphone and I'm obsessed!!! I'm sometimes a little late in the ball
game to catch onto new things, but when I discover I go all out!

Anyway, this photo above was taken with Instagram and I love all the various colors
you can play around with to get the look you want. Fun!

So, for me the thing about this look that stands out the most is the
eyes. They are a somewhat smoky eye in a subtle gray/purple way.
That's my favorite thing about this look so I'm going to mention all products
used, but I only took pictures of the eye shadows.

So, first thing I did was prime the eye with Maybelline Color Tattoo in
"Tough as Taupe."
This gives your eye a light gray shade and prepares your eye for the other colors to come.

I then packed the color "Mist"all over my lid. This is the shade on far left that
is a matte lilac purple by Merle Norman.

Last thing was taking the color "Storm" charcoal gray/brown by Merle Norman
in the outer corner and crease to give more depth and color.

I lined the upper lash line with "Zero" black liner from Urban Decay and
ran "Storm" under my bottom lash line for a softer look.

Products Used:
Foundation: HourGlass Immaculate Liquid to Powder (review to come)
Bronzer: NARS Laguna
Blush: MAC Gingerly
Highlight: MAC Soft & Gentle
Eyes: Merle Norman Mist and Storm
Liner: Urban Decay Zero (Black)
Mascara: Revlon Photoready 3d
Lips: Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait

Have a FABULOUS weekend!!
